I just learned that Niri has a "center this window on the screen" mode.

You can configure it to automatically center the focused window, which wouldn't work for me since I sometimes want to split my workspace evenly.

BUT!

You can also press Ctrl + Super + c, and it will center the focused window, regardless of its width.

Did I tell you I love Niri?

A video of a computer that runs Niri. First there is a RSS reader open taking the full screen. I click on a post, and it opens Firefox to the right, pushing the RSS reader out of the screen to the left. Then Firefox moves to the center of the screen. I widen it, and it goes to the center of the screen again.

@thibaultamartin what’s that first app? It looks familiar like I should know what it is but I can’t place it.

@thibaultamartin you are not the only one to love niri, I do too ! I use mod+M to maximise the window instead and i also added the web browser to always open maximised in the settings.

@visnudeva I'm using it with DankMaterialShell, so for me it's mod + f to maximize windows, or even mod + shift + f if I want them to really take the full screen
