Winter Weather Advisory, Municipality of Skagway, 2025-11-20 21:47 AKST.

...SNOW TO CONTINUE ON UPPER ELEVATIONS OF THE KLONDIKE HIGHWAY THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING...

.Most concern for snowfall continues to be north of mile post 10 towards White Pass.

The winter weather advisory has been extended for the Klondike Highway through Friday evening. This is in anticipation of continuing long duration accumulating snow through Friday. Forecast confidence is highest for accumulating snow north of mile post 10 towards White Pass through Friday night, with expected lower snow levels and higher precipitation amounts. Dense, wet snow will make up a majority of the accumulating snow, with latest guidance further lowering snow ratios Thursday night into Friday morning. Snow levels will then continue to drop throughout the day Friday and increase snow ratios again, allowing for more accumulation through the day Friday.

Stay tuned for additional details at weather.gov/juneau.

WHAT...Long duration snowfall continues. Additional snow accumulations of 8 to 10 inches through Friday night. Wind gusts up to 30 mph.

WHERE...Klondike Highway, North of Milepost 10.

WHEN...Until 9 PM AKST Friday.

IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Highest snowfall rates are expected through Thursday evening with potential for up to 1 inch per hour rates for short period near White Pass. Main concern will be long duration rates around 0.25 to 0.50 inch per hour expected to continue through Friday for the upper elevations of the Klondike Highway. Southerly winds intensify Thursday evening and last into Friday evening, bringing the potential for some drifting snow near White Pass with wind gusts up to 30 mph limiting visibilities. However, this southerly push lowers forecast confidence in accumulating snow through the daytime hours at lower elevations of the Klondike Highway and Skagway on Friday. Current forecast has storm total snowfall around 12 to 14 inches from through Friday night.
