@stefan I didn't expect here to be so many monstrous bigots.
If poor people have to hear this Mastodon, imagine how bad it is IRL...
And for those who can afford it: https://translifeline.org/donate/
@stefan
This community had been used rather harshly by politicians from both US parties.
I believe it is a personal choice. This alone makes it a valid choice.
My only requirement for acceptance is that no harm is done to others. This has become a real problem in sports since we can not yet change the physical effects of puberty.
We will, in time.
@ChrisTheFool Being trans is not a choice, though. Trans people suffer from higher suicide rates and homelessness as a result of how they're treated by their families and communities, I'm sure if it was a choice, it would be an easy one.
As for sports, this is a more complex topic and has been pretty well covered here, highly recommend watching.
@stefan
When they say it is a choice, they are only referring to your ability to stay alive.
They don't care about the quality of your life.
@stefan From the standpoint of the individual, I agree. I have had similar conflicts between my beliefs and the beliefs of others. They say it is a choice, and I can not agree. For me, specifically in that instance, there isn't a choice.
This is the core problem with behavior. Society has made outcasts of this group. Any group treated this way will act out, often with crimes against others and crimes against themselves.
Society has created many of the problems cited by society against trans.
A good day to lift up trans people's voices, celebrate their joy, and actively call out and oppose any and all harm against them. (That's every day. ✊)
