Tech giants have spent millions to keep Congress from regulating AI. But states from Alabama to California have put rules in place. Trump tried to sneak this federal preemption through in his Big Bullshit Bill, but we beat it then. Now he's trying to sneak it through in the defense spending bill.
If this passes, it'll make AI more lawless than the wild west. Technofascists like Musk, Thiel and Luckey would be free to unleash untested robotaxis, creepy chatbots and dangerous surveillance tech with no accountability or oversight from any governmental body.
