Rossmann is doing the work of God.

The recent data center outage surfaced the shocking reality of one adjustable bed manufacturer collecting 60 gigabytes of data per month per bed. Pretty insane data collection for a bed(!?)

Nest collects a mere 50 Mb, it’s still spyware. Rossmann goes on to inform us even though the device services have been discontinued, the device still uploads 50 MB of data a day to google.

* I have to put a little Asterix next to the upload quantities here. I remember 60 GB being quoted in a post or from an article in a post through mastodon, but the Internet search is not bringing up anything other than people being greatly inconvenienced or overheated when AWS went down.

The Internet of things though is accurately described as stalking.com or big brother.
