I think #llms allow me to do technologically what #photography allows me to do artistically: finish things while avoiding the struggle with #adhd / executive function / distraction and wanting to build things that are too ambitious / time consuming / exhausting to actually make. It also allows me to have a pressure valve for ideas as they come up during the day and actually get the value out of them I want them to have.
I hadn’t finished a personal electronics project in over 15 years, yet yesterday I could build a really nice film development timer while at the same time exploring generating enclosures with a few words , while at the same time also focusing on actual printing and writing in my sketchbook and watching some documentaries and just overall chilling.
This is mind blowing, and I think the current iteration of Manus.im and a few prompting techniques i developed are key to this.
I kind of consider this to be llm supported “being in the real world” and creativity. I would otherwise spent my Saturday knee deep in micro python documentation which I honestly couldn’t care less about instead of thinking about ideas and cleaning my lab…
I have a video of the film developer but mastodon sucks so…
