20 years ago, I was that guy that compiled his Gentoo new with some esoteric compiler flags. Just for the placebo effect that everything ran more smoothly after it.

@obrhoff My first encounter with Gentoo was way before I knew anything about computers (I was in high school, I had just managed to have my PC to run Mandrake Linux 8.2 instead of Windows 98).
I remember reading Gentoo was a "network operating system" and I was so curious to try it. Trouble was, I only had dial up at the time and despite my best efforts, it didn't work out. It would be almost 10 years before I tried again and had a running Gentoo to play with 馃槀馃槀馃槀
