This reminded me that the Old-School Renaissance RPG movement had its fair share of idiots who wanted to derail it, because their idea of old school was "sexist and racist af" instead of "rules and play style".
From my POV they mostly went away or decided to switch to comically bad games such as Myfarog. The rest of the community seems to have worked toward opening up the hobby across every possible axis, including - crucially - age. It's not old grognards anymore, thankfully.
