My preferred version of Elixir would have been:

1. Take Erlang
2. Make standard library consistent for input params and return values and add some convenience goodies
3. improve tooling (ie. tests, mix, hex etc)
4. add pipeline operator
5. get rid of trailing semicolons and dots

All the other syntactic fluff I really don't need - especially adding 23 new ways of writing the same thing but shorter and less readable, obscured by macros and RoR like convenience overload

@aheimbuch yeah … maybe if it gains more traction and becomes more useful for my scenarios it could work - but I really want just a slightly more accessible Erlang. I don't need a "to javascript" compiler - I really don't :)

@hukl hmm I thought Erlang is the primary compiler backend. I just learned that it can also compile to JavaScript.

@aheimbuch yeah I'm not sure what ppl currently use it primarily for 😁 But yeah this aspect makes me question the focus of the project at the very least.
