"What about Akkoma?"
It's an option but I choose to ignore it. For more of a personal reason: I don't agree with some of the decisions its big cheese has made over the years.
- I don't like how the Pleroma relay, which remains enabled out of the box on Pleroma to this day, was disabled. It makes widespread federation for an instance just that much harder.
- I don't like how the MRF pipeline was limited to only acknowledge a few specific incoming activity types, breaking policies that users relied on.
- I have a fundamental disagreement on the emphasis on blocking and using features such as the authorized fetch. I want this network to be an open place. Also the authorized fetch can be easily worked around, so I don't understand why people still try to make it work. It only inconveniences unknowing instance admins.
Pleroma now has some of the features that were once selling points for Akkoma. So I just use it instead. Only minor things are missing and are being added as time passes.
