I volunteer at a repair cafe every month. Here my impressions of what can be reparied well and what not:

- Clothing is usually both the easiest and most fun. People come with pants they like to wear but which are worn through. Patching them works well.
- Small household appliances: Often unsuccessful; broken custome plastic parts.
- More expensive things: Often possible, but needs research to find the replacement part(s).
