She’s out today, at least for now. I’m hiking up from Mount Hood Meadows towards Timberline Lodge. Hoping to complete a loop if I can manage a couple water crossings.

I made it up to just over 9000 feet on Mount Hood before turning around. It felt much too unsafe with just microspikes. I’m now on the Pacific Crest Trail to finish my loop. The horizon has been colorful most of the day. Awesome hike.

The Pacific Crest Trail winds through a snowy valley with trees lining the slopes. Footprints mark a narrow path in the snow, leading toward a distant horizon of layered blue mountains. The sky is streaked with soft clouds, with hints of warm light near the horizon.
