Reading the comments of the US Department of State on the EU Space Act, it's the same thing as many other digital regulation texts.

US: You are killing innovation. How do you want startups to comply with these burdensome regulatory requirements?

EU: Fair point. Let’s add some restrictions so that the more costly regulatory compliance obligations only fall on companies that have a certain scale and can afford it.

US: You are discriminating against American technological giants like Starlink.

@fj surely 1000 satellites is only a kilo-constellation?
Hopefully we don't get to 1B (giga) 🙄

Given how much light pollution these satellites are causing and how they are changing the chemical composition of the upper atmosphere, it doesn't sound to me unreasonable that they would have additional regulatory obligations.
