#WritersCoffeeClub 6, Do you make use of unconventional punctuation?
I try to stick with comic book conventions BUT let me introduce you non-comics folks to "breath marks" which have been conventional in comics for almost a century but haven't been adopted more widely.
The marks surround breath or throat sounds (descriptive or onomatopoeic).
Used together with nothing between (arguably a different mark altogether), usually after an ellipsis, they indicate unconsciousness or death.
Turns out it wasn't a glitch. An injured alien (Gigi) points a raygun at him, then collapses, a whole/double breath mark indicates the moment she passes out.
CJ waits inside the door of his retro sci-fi house, holding a frying pan defensively. He begins to laugh, realising that the warning of someone in the airlock must have been a glitch. Breath marks surround "pfff" as he begins to laugh.
