Someone recently did a "gotcha" style "deep dive" on his dissertation being like "omg this is not good."
... and I'll be real, I don't have time or energy for all that, even as a rubbernecker.
HOWEVER.
Some of the errors I've seen pointed out were shitty citation formatting?
Like, friends. Dissertations are a shitshow. They are not beautiful. They are edited by students who are 10000x over looking at them ever again.
We have dissertations from people who hold PhDs and the dissertation has THE WRONG PROGRAM NAME. Maybe it changed while they were in the program (but probably not). Maybe it morphed in their heads. Maybe it's wrong word order.
You could "gotcha" they don't even know what their PhD is in. But they do.
Anyway. Dissertations are a hot mess.
(and this isn't a Penn State thing, this was a Notre Dame thing, a GW thing, etc)
