You never *really* own smart devices.

This is an excellent example of how the #SurveillanceEconomy works with #IoT #smartdevices

The manufacturer has built in the sale of customer data to their business model. So if you block the transmission of that data back to them then they brick your device.

Despite you never consenting to having that data harvested in the first place!
