#WordWeavers Nov 1: Describe a perfect reader for your story (i.e. who is the story for?)

Oh... this is like that marketing thing where your supposed to describe your ideal customer? I always hated those...

To be perfectly honest, Planting Life in a Dying City is ultimately for me. I wrote it because I wanted to explore ideas of family, survival, love, and society.

Of course, having written they story, I'll never get to simply read it, discover it for the first time the way any other reader can.

So I suppose the perfect reader would be one who wants intimately connect with a group of people who are teaching each other how to create a family while fighting back against a stratified and stagnant society.

#PlantingLife

@JessMahler Second time today I've seen someone basically say "I'm writing for me," and I feel like it's a hint that I'm supposed to get on that. (Fascinating idea, though! It's fiction, yeah? Sounds like it could be a real-life how-to...)

@juliebihn
I think there's room for books written for all kinds of reasons. Yeah, Planting Life was really written for me, but I've got other books that were written with an audience in mind (Last Lady of Luna most recently) or for a mix of reasons.

Yes, Planting Life is fiction.

I'm reminded suddenly of Lois Bujold's reaction the one time I told her that her character Miles Vorkosigan has been inspirational for me during a very rough time in my life. She was Very Concerned that anyone would take inspiration from him. lol

No, please don't take Planting Life as a real-life how-to. Overall, i think the characters do very well for themselves, but their situation really isn't one you want to emulate if you can avoid it!
