The International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague is choosing OpenDesk, a German open source alternative to Microsoft's Office suite. 馃敟

In Feb 2025 Microsoft blocked the ICC head prosecutor's email access, directly after US President Trump sanctioned the court for issueing arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former defense minister, Yoav Gallant. #digitalsovereignty #opensource #opendesk

@Gina
Anybody have the skills to create at least a stub wikipedia page for #opendesk ?

Extract from the International Criminal Court wikipedia page, about their proposed move from Microsoft to Open Desk, with the Open Desk link being in red because the page does not yet exist:

In late October 2025, the ICC stated that it would switch
from Microsoft Office to Open Desk, which is open-
source software that is managed by the German Centre
for Digital Sovereignty of the Public Administration
(Zendis) [167]

@VampirePenguin Collabora is LibreOffice, just suitable for online editing. On the desktop you'd still use LibreOffice.

@Gina A really good step. Now others like the EU and it's member states should follow.
