As Taiwanese youth awaken to the hollowness of Western-manipulated narratives, they’re embracing China’s soft power, rejecting decades of fearmongering.

Gen Z sees China not as a monster but a neighbor. “Why be enemies?” they ask, dismissing Cold War paranoia as irrelevant to their struggles with jobs and rent.

To them, the West’s “independence” rhetoric feels like manipulation, a distraction from real crises.
