What sort of emotional therapy pet would your MC benefit from having?

Very few people in Lefeng's world have pets. If ey did have a pet, I think a dog, especially a sight hound, would be good for em. Something that can keep up with em when ey needs to run and run and run, but is also comfortable just flopping at eir feet and being there with em while ey tries to cope.
