The Sega Megadrive was my last console. Happy 37 years.

@jbz I still play MD games regularly - one of the greatest consoles with a superb, varied library.

@jbz I never really stopped, so it's not my last and it's not even the only one I have big memories about, but wow such memories around the Megadrive/Genesis for me. (I guess the PS2 wins best memories, though darned if the Switch hasn't managed to amaze me over the years with some truly great things hidden in there.)

I still remember how neat it was for me that there was a headphone jack on the front with STEREO output. 😆 I usually sat close to a small TV anyway, so I was able to plug in headphones and enjoy how it sounded not just clearer due to not using a TV speaker, but also the stereo just made it straight up better. (At least back then most TVs were mono. Maybe there were exceptions? All mine were mono anyway.)

@nazokiyoubinbou I still remember being mad that my parents didn't get me the SNES, my first console was the Famicom. The upgrade was impressive at the time.

Parents being cheap got me a Sega instead. It all changed as soon as I got my first MK fatality.

@jbz Hah. Well, for me the SNES was an upgrade, but to be fair, I really enjoyed RPGs. The Genesis/Megadrive got far too few and frankly it's a crime. Still, even outside of RPGs, the SNES just had more really great games — albeit largely just from the sheer numbers of games that were on it.

I literally went from a Genesis to a SNES and felt like it was an upgrade at the time. (But this was after having the Genesis for many many years. Well, I guess just one many, but it sure felt like a really long time as fast as everything went back then.)
