@cstross I appreciate Mr. Banks putting in the M to differentiate his work in the two genres; the first time you read an Iain Banks novel initially thinking it is an Iain M. Banks novel is quite jarring!

@cstross Iain “Wasp Factory” Banks? I still look askance at spoons anywhere near a hospital ward (IYKYK)…. So YES!
