EDIT: hi FOSS evangelists, we're already on fucking Mastodon. This is like walking up to someone in church who's wearing a white collar and asking if they've heard of Jesus.

@davidgerard Folks, you can't fix stupid. Take your data to a local solution under your personal control, and shove all that Google cloud crap where the sun don't shine.
Every action remaining within the Google universe will be futile. Don't be evil!
@abucci @dazzr @davidgerard
Don't be thick about this; your work's data is not *your* data. Take *your* data off Google.
I've also had to use Google shit for work, and my solution is/was to use a different browser than my personal goto exclusively for accessing Google. A little hassle, occasionally, but keeps work nicely separated from life, and keeps Google's surveillance nicely contained (as far as that's possible at a personal level.)
@dazzr @davidgerard sure, but I can't fix everything instantly. There's only so much spare energy and time in a day.

@davidgerard Thanks for the warning. Never used it, and now I'm super extra convinced never to ever try it either.
@davidgerard I'll check this out.
@davidgerard Another fix is to stop using google altogether,

@davidgerard I don't understand.
Thanks David.

Or uninstall the os. If you can.
@kevinrns Microsoft Abacus with Copilot
@davidgerard thanks for sharing! My drive had a mini-stroke after turning it off 🔄 It really did not want me to turn it off 🧨
@davidgerard insidious shit (and yes it was on by default on mine as well)
You cannot imagine how much I'm never ever going to to this, Google
