a pet peeve of mine.
the subsequent polish governments (no matter which party) are quite happy of passing on costs of treatment of adult adhd entirely to the people who are affected, and that means everything from diagnosing to the treatment.
getting diagnosed via the public healthcare system is near impossible; the costs of the diagnosis using the private healthcare are roughly ~1000 PLN (~240€).
then there are costs of the treatment: commonly prescribed amount of metylphenidate sr (28 capsules á 30mg) costs ~100 PLN/month; because metylphenidate is listed in the official schedule of psychotropic and narcotic substances (in the section II-P), and can be only prescribed for up to 90 days, you need to add a visit to (again) a private psychiatrist every three month. overall, roughly ~200 PLN/m or rather ~600 PLN every three months.
and that's just pure pharmacological treatment, no therapy.
and if you ask, yes, the government and ministry are very well aware of the situation, and the government officials explicitly communicated that they won't make any moves to establish refunds for the treatment because the relatively high prevalence of adult adhd would mean additional stress on the healthcare system.
