See, I left Facebook more than 10 years ago, my home has been Microsoft-free since around 1998. I run my #Homelab where I store all my digital stuff (photos, scanned documents, LibreOffice files etc) on a NAS (Network Attached Storage) server that runs Linux. I have never used AWS or Azure, if I need some compute capacity, I rent VPS (Virtual Private Server) at EU based hosting companies. I did #DigitalSovereignty long before the term even existed. You can become the owner of your data too!

Open Source, Free Software, Open Standards, cheap (refurbished) hardware, Terabytes of storage at very low prices, it's all there for the taking. I feed my music collection with Audio CDs from the public library. Ripping them is absolutely legal in Germany. I buy (used) DVD sets of TV series I like, rip them to my NAS and make them available on my local network. Sure, it takes quite a learning curve, but in my opinion it's definitely worth it.

I am always happy to explain things in reproducible ways, trying to keep the knowledge requirements low. Which unfortunately isn't always possible.
