Once again dumb dumb Donald forgets the Streisand effect: tons of people who hadn't seen the ad will now look for it, amplifying the message. And then Republicans try to defend Trump with the argument that the ad took Reagan's speech on tarrifs out of context, so people go find the whole speech which is even more negative on tarrifs. And now people are amplifying stories about how much the Reagans loathed Trump....
Keep talking, guys!
Brilliant
Thanks for sharing.
@randahl The speech is fake, as far I know, but it's always nice to see Trump get angry.
@ElPamplina @randahl
The ad is probably AI generated
@randahl An advised idiot lecturing an unadvised idiot.
@randahl Mischief Managed.

Not to worry, in any case all trump wants is to dictate trade rules which he profits from.
Canada stay strong there is a whole world of oopportunity without yankee doodle the donkey.
@randahl they should have used the complete audio
trump is an idiot
@randahl
Parallel situation in the UK. Margaret Thatcher former PM and friend of Reagan is seen by the right wing, free market, anti-EU, Brexit crowd as a secular saint. But it was she pushed the EU into creating the single market, ie free trade zone, in the EU against opposition from protectionist states. So now the EU has no tariff or other barriers but the 'free trade' UK does and it's costing us dear.
@randahl
Worst hit of course is the food sector. Fresh fruit and veg from southern Europe and fish from cold northern waters were both traded freely to the benefit of all. Now they are held up at customs for hours or even days which adds to costs and means they are much less fresh when they finally get to the shops. So we pay more for worse.
the absurdity, that Reagan sounds so sane....this is how low the bar has gotten
@randahl In order to give some light about the ad, the following article is interesting https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/clyz1e201r8o
@aerofreak it appears that account has been suspended.
@randahl I think it is fair to say that the Canadians are not nearly as narked about this as Trump would wish. They will simply look for other buyers of the produce. It's a big world. And anyway, Trump doesn't want to be importing Canadian stuff - he wants it all made in America.
@randahl
Thanks for sharing *the Canadian ad* Randahl! It was good to see it for myself. 🙏🏻
Having done that, no wonder Thump’s so cranky! Reagan makes it perfectly clear that mutuality is the winning trading strategy - a word Thump couldn’t pronounce let alone define or enact. He just refuses to educate himself; how much energy does that take? 🤔
@randahl i hope your haircut gets a "gazillion " views.... trump didn't even watch this AI ad
@randahl there was a perfectly good trade deal in place with Canada for 20 years till Trump dicked it up...
Anything that pisses off trump is ok by me, so I kinda wish Doug Ford told him to fuck off and keep running that ad.
Why is it that the entire world moving to the right?
Is it really only the super-rich buying media and algorithms to influence and undermine democracy?
And what is it that they intend to achieve?
The destruction of the world?
I really don't get it.
@mad listen or read Timothy Snyder talk about his term sadopopulism. That explains it all.
A sign of the times that the words.of St Ronald the First are too politically incorrect for today's GQP
Just an excuse!
He's ened talks because Candian negotiators won't give in and give him what he wants. So It's Tantrum Time again.
@randahl ah the notorious Liberal, Ronald Reagan
I'm glad republicans don't seem to comprehend the Streisand effect.
Maybe the only thing that can reach a senile gop clown is another senile gop clown who can barely read the paper in front of him.
@randahl He is a thin skinned baby of a man.
@randahl Why in the world do we care or even know about a commercial playing in another country? The level of pettiness and insecurity is staggering.
@randahl Although I have lots of issues with how Ronald Reagan destroyed much of the regulatory systems and fundamental protections against big business and rich (often republicans) controlling everything… one has to admit he at least *tried* to do something good during his presidency, and that speech has a lot of qualities that most Americans (well those who thought well of him at one time) admired in him. Caring about the people and the future of the country.
