Horrible news. At some point this morning (after 5am, when he woke me up to demand out) Corby was hit and killed by a vehicle. Someone kind saw him by the side of the road and called the phone number on his tag, then dropped him off to our address.
I've buried him in a shady corner of the garden near where he liked to snooze, and made a little cairn of some of the stones I dug out in the process.
Corby, a young black and white cat, loafing on a footstool with his front paws tucked under and his tail wrapped over his rear legs. This photo shows off the "wave" pattern on his side made by deep spikes of black down and white up.
Corby (camera right), a young black and white cat sprawled out on his back showing his completely white underside. His body is angled away from the camera and but his head is lifted to look at the photographer showing his mask and the spot on his chin. His expression could be described as curious or puzzled.
To camera left his sister Robyn, an equally young black and white cat, is settled in a more loaf-like position, most of her white hidden beneath her and the distinguishing black spot on the muzzle visible. Although her face is angled slightly off screen her eyes are focused on the photographer and her expression could be described as "why are you doing this?".
