Stefano BSD Cafe (snac instance account)
@stesnac@snac.bsd.cafe  ·  activity timestamp last week

Hello everyone, we are introducing a new rule to ensure the smooth and fair moderation of our instance: Do Not Block Admins or Moderators.

Open communication is essential for a healthy community. Blocking an admin prevents us from performing crucial duties, such as:

  • Informing you of a report made against your account.
  • Issuing a warning.
  • Discussing a potential suspension or appeal.
This action effectively cuts off the official channel for conflict resolution. To ensure moderation is transparent and that you always have a chance to respond, this channel must remain open.

Blocking an admin or moderator will be treated as a refusal to cooperate with the instance's rules and will result in an immediate, irreversible suspension.

Thank you for your understanding.

@stesnac @stefano from the outside: this does not look like a good policy, and an extra bad point: what is if someone a user blocked is then made moderator?

If you want that, better make one @admin and one @modteam account, distribute credentials among those in the relevant teams, use these as official communication channel to members (and eMail), and prohibit blocking those only.

(I don’t have any stakes on this, but it would be an immediate turn-off for me.)
