If someone contacts your organization anonymously from an alias email address to request further details about how you collect and process a certain type of data that isn't described in your privacy policy as mandated, be wary.

It is best to answer promptly, truthfully, and thoroughly.

It could be a privacy professional about to report you to the data protection authority.

Are those of us who self-host single user instances under any obligation legally (particularly in the U.S., if you know)? I don't collect or store any user data that is not my own. Public IP addresses show up in my logs, but most of them are from other instances anyway. That's about it. I've never written a privacy policy because I've always assumed I don't need one.
