i'm really trying to avoid the harsh language because i really can see how this happened over time. i just have this whole thing about how compiler engineers are taught that somehow the way the compiler interacts with the outside world is like a distraction from the Real Work instead of Literally The Entire Point

honestly pretty impressed at a bootstrap script that is actually worse than nothing. at least with nothing you can bring in your own tools

i made the mistake of assuming "pre-built LLVM" would mean you could build the LLVM yourself instead of building it in the rust repo through their fucked up little config format
no, that's the LLVM used to compile the in-tree LLVM
so just first off, calling your llvm fork "not really a fork" and then seeing it has +300,-10_000 commits is one of the shambliest things i've ever seen
