Could you all help me brainstorm something?
Do you think there would be any use for a Federated location sharing app? Something that would let you mark an annotate locations in the world to share places of interest with your friends or to publicize things that are happening.
We could make a distributed, location-based search engine that pulls up all of the annotations within some radius.
Yes? No? I鈥檇 love to hear if this community thinks it would be valuable.
@benpate An idea I had kicked around for a long time was something like a crowd-sourced walking tour site. Folks could create tours based on points of interest, share their own own stories about a place, etc.
I thought an interesting adjunct to this may be something like a "digital graffiti" AR kind of thing - you wonder around a city, the app tells you someone left an artifact, you see it through the phone - either as AR or just as an image.
Another use case: Geocaching.
