When I keep saying that being on #streaming platforms is a pointless exercise, I get sometimes asked for numbers, or proofs.

Here you go. A single song of mine was played a MILLION times in 3 months, in 2022 (and, in later months, another 750k times), with a net gain of £33.

A million plays on streaming pays for a pizza night out for me and @silviamaggi

Took me FOUR sales on Bandcamp to reach the same amount.

So, ask me again, why quit giving out music to the techbros?

@m2m @silviamaggi

An excellent bump for Bandcamp friday :3

Especially as even the DJ software is embracing streaming services! D:

I feel it's /critical/ we be very intentional about creating a culture that sees music as more than a fungible space filler.

Music should never be reduced to a transaction. It is one of the most fundamental ways of connecting and we should never allow middlemen to alienate the artist.

@ ⦺ irick 🐁🐈⚩ Nice idea, sadly this point has been passed since the start of the music industry. When was that again? Let's say, when film with sound was commercialized. Ah: mid 1920s. Ah, right, when all the live playing musicians playing everyday for silent movies lost their jobs. And their skills. Ah wait, there was music publishers before. Oh well. We do, what we can, today, though i don't see, how mere DJ software might help that.
