I will start the work on switching my blog away from #Jekyll with all the fights in the #Ruby world. I hope they can solve their issues, but in case they can't I should be prepared to switch. So. Which Static Site Generator should I look at? #Hugo, obviously, but what other SSGs do you think are worth a look?

@jwildeboer Yet another vote for 11ty if you want full control over everything. But I’m quite curious to watch this thread for more robust, out of the box blog focused SSGs.

First result: I will try to build my standard landing page template with both Zola and 11ty to see how they work and integrate in my typical workflow (edit with vscodium, git repo on my Forgejo instance, which runs a build container to generate and upload the static files).

Hugo is out as many replies suggest it has become complex and attracts breaking changes.

Keep the suggestions coming! Thank you all for your input :)

I prefer to have a full local install on my laptop too, so that I can generate the static files and upload them manually, in case there is a problem with my forgejo workflow. Which is why the single binary approach of Zola feels more natural to me. But the tests will show if it is GoodEnough™ for my purposes.
