#SciArtSeptember Day 27: Symbiosis.
My spouse shared these guys with me recently; they're volcano snails (Chrysomallon squamiferum). They live near hydrothermal vents deep in the ocean, and their shells contain iron, as do the unusual overlapping scales on their foot!
They have symbiotic gammaproteobacteria inside their oesophageal gland, which probably provide them food (no sunlight down there!).

The same pattern, charted on a 30 by 30 grid.

Five horizontal lines of snails moving from left to right. They have a spiral shell, and their foot has a diamond grid pattern, as if scaled. Black lineart.
