Notice the total at the top right is not actually $579.408, but $595.04, a difference never explained in the UI.
Based on actual totals, the effective discount is even lower:
2 - 595.04 / 319.88 = 14%
For 2 adults + 1 child the "40% off for children" is an even more meager 5.66%:
$319.88 * 3 = $959.64
$362.13 * 2.6 = $941.538
3 - 941.538 / 319.88 = 5.66%
Actually, it's not even that… [3/5]

Remember the weird mysterious alchemy involved in the actual total when you use the Family fare?
That wipes out even that tiny discount, making the grand total of savings less than $1, an effective discount of 0%.
In fact, after I took these screenshots, the fare changed slightly so in the OP screenshots the difference is literally $0.00!
Surely, 0% is as bad as it gets, right? Wrong. [4/5]
