"Waste, like Macavity [the mystery cat], is an inextricable part of growth, always there, mostly invisible, hard to measure. After all, as UNEP (2024: 17) reports “Some countries have no official waste data whatsoever, or this data may be incomplete or inaccurate” – some 2.7 billion people live their lives outside any waste collection (ISWA, 2024)."
