🚨 I’ve just heard from @aseelfromgz after almost two days.

She’s alive but things are not good.

They left their tent because it was not safe but had to return because they had nowhere else to go. She couldn’t reach me because the Internet was down.

I’m trying to find out if there’s any amount of money we can send over that will mean that she and her family can immediately move South and out of the danger zone.

(Her cat Liza also had her surgery yesterday but hasn’t woken up from it yet. She’s on a drip.)

I just want to give you an update on Aseel’s emergency fundraiser. As you know, her beloved cat, Liza, passed away after her surgery and Aseel’s been absolutely devastated.

I spoke with her a little last night and, this morning, she was able to send me a list of the donations that came in yesterday:

$16 + $52 + $15 + $100 + $10 + $310 + $21 + $52 + $25 + $10 + $207 + $103 + $62 + $50 + $25 + $10

You lovely people donated a total of $1,068 over the previous evening while we were sleeping and yesterday… which means we’ve got exactly $1,000 left to raise for her and her family before so that they can get to relative safety in the South.

Dear Aseel,

When we lost our first kitten many years ago, my siblings and I cried for hours and mourned her for many weeks. It is always devastating to lose a family member. We buried her here in our garden and never forget her. She will always be a part of us, just as Liza will always be a part of you. May she rest in a better place in the land of cream and mice and always get enough cuddles and kisses.
