I've often wondered how Cory Doctorow can write so much high-quality material in a year, when it can take me all day to write one vaguely-passable blog post. He shared his strategy in this 2009 article;

https://www.locusmag.com/Features/2009/01/cory-doctorow-writing-in-age-of.html

This is wisdom to live by, and I'll be coming back to it.

I know there are heaps of writers in the fediverse, further suggestions welcome : )

He steals everyone ideas. Always has. I figured you were being paid to talk about him.

You're hilarious. You here all week?

@magicalthinking
> He steals everyone ideas

That's not a thing. Ideas are not property, and the whole point of them is to spread them (if they're true and useful).

> I figured you were being paid to talk about him

In what universe is that a thing someone would use money for?! I talk about his ideas when I agree with them (or strongly disagree). Just like everyone else I reference.

@magicalthinking @strypey the don't research bullet point is hilarious, because he claims to have no self control when searching for a fact that could change the entire writing from that point on lol. his example is looking up the length of a bridge and if you don't look that up and end up writing a story about something that can't even fit on that bridge, gg.

@strypey It’s a great set of tips for any consistent habit you need to build.

Had to smile tho - as a #sysadmin I had several known virus signatures or triggers in .txt files ready to test AV updates - usually just one character off triggering or zipped so they wouldn’t trigger without prior warning:

“the humble .txt file can be read by practically every application on your computer, can be pasted directly into an email, and can't transmit a virus” 🦠
