Their delicate souls could not have endured what we are enduring now. But we are not numbers in news bulletins. We are not fleeting stories on the world’s screens, stirring a quick tear before being forgotten. We are entire lifetimes we are laughter, homes, and memories. We are human beings whom this war insists on stripping of every meaning of humanity. And still, we cling to the last remnants of it with every breath.
....What dignity can the world claim while watching this and remaining silent? What kind of civilization is it that turns away from women burying their grief in slow, heavy steps, and from children walking in the funeral of their stolen childhood? Today #Gaza, with the blood of its sons, the strength of its women, and the endurance of its children, writes an epic no centuries will erase. It lifts its cry to the world: Do you know what displacement means? Do you know what it is to have your soul torn from your homeland under the threat of a gun?
