⚡ Unix Co-Creator Brian Kernighan on Rust, Distros and NixOS | The New Stack

‘”I have written only one Rust program, so you should take all of this with a giant grain of salt,” he said. “And I found it a — pain… I just couldn’t grok the mechanisms that were required to do memory safety, in a program where memory wasn’t even an issue!”

@jbz Well, he did say to take it with a giant grain of salt. Rust doesn't care if memory safety is an issue in a particular program. I think by citing him on this issue (you're not the first one to do so), one might think that Rust isn't a good language (even the Unix Co-Creator said so!), while actually, this was just a statement about personal preferences.
