@ProPublica All security rules put into place immediately after 9/11 need to be placed under scrutiny. The US was suffering from collective PTSD and paranoia after the attacks and bills were passed too quickly. Bills like the Patriot Act were rushed through Congress under great pressure. It's likely that many congresspeople did not even read the bills before passage. There was little to no debate. The dangers of much of the legislation came into focus later.
