Reported in insulting terms by both BBC and Guardian, this was a moving powerful determined interethnic, intergenerational demo. People were down on the grass for seven hot hours in the sun while the predatory police circled like wolves to pick people off. Once scooped up, they faced a slow, shuffling walk 2-3 hours along Millbank, stiff and sore after the sitting. Then got loaded in vans that needed holding patterns like planes 3-4 hours before they could find cells to put us in.
Arrested at 8:30pm, I didn't get to a cell till 4:30 the next morning! Never such a gruesome arrest.
Why wouldn't we shout 'Shame on you' to these police following the orders of the more than complicit and corrupt government? But there was also dialogue and banter between officers & arrestees both coming from all corners of England and Wales, with outbursts of song flooding along the moonlit Embankment. Human.
