Stone Tools is a new retrocomputing blog "[...] about the productivity software of the 8/16-bit home computing era". I heartily welcome a blog that focuses on non-gaming software as it's a less covered topic in the retrocomputing space.

@amoroso

I just wrote a blog piece about some people who showed the impressive-looking RSA-2048 facotrization on a quantum computer was in fact trivial.

They demonstrated this result by running it on (an emulator for) a Commodore VIC-20, a 6502-based consumer computer from about 1980.

@amoroso@old-bytes.space Did accounting software in Basic ‘84-5 on Z80s. One client sent us a TRS-80 Model 16 to port the software. Xenix was fun to play with in my idle time. There was an interactive C tutor called ‘learn’.

@amoroso I remember being completely blown away by "THE picture" when it was new.

@ksaj At the time lots of things looked impressive and original, because they were.

@amoroso Non gaming stuff is where my main interest lies now. I’m slowly collecting a lot of business/productivity software for the C64.
