I've been writing and editing episodes of Expedition Sasquatch at an alarming pace.

We should have at least one episode a month between now and the end of the year!

But before that, I have to address some tech debt.

The Expedition Sasquatch website and podcast feed are built with an SSG called octopod and hosted on static site hosting. Its source files and octopod build environment live on what was my primary desktop when I launched the podcast, which is now the printer server at the makerspace.

This makes releasing an episode a multi-machine affair, and that won't do.

I need to rectify this situation. I have a few options.

I could just leave it all as is and set up remote access to the octopod machine. This would still be more precarious than other options, but it would work.

I could grab all the files for the site off the other machine or out of one of my backups and get octopod set up somewhere else. My laptop or one of my ssh hosts would be reasonable choices.

There hasn't been an octopod release in ... 13 years, but the existing version should still work, more or less. This would be less precarious than continuing to depend on a 12 year old mini-PC running windows 10. It would still leave me as the only person who can update the podcast. Maybe that's okay?

I could migrate the site to a new host, and migrate the podcast to new software. I assume that, as long as I keep my URLs the same and/or do a proper redirect, most podcast clients don't care.

I think this what I should do, as it would enable me to easily allow other people to update the podcast. But it's also the most work, so I'll probably not do it.

Regardless, tomorrow I will:

- make a choice about this tech debt
- upload a new episode of the #ExpeditionSasquatch podcast to the servers
- put another episode of the #ES podcast up for early access for sponsors and patrons
- finish editing a third episode of the ES podcast
- finish writing the third episode of the ES TV show

(Among other things!)
