A police officer is by definition a class traitor because the main function of the police institution is not to "protect the citizens", but to channel the labour of police officers to perpetuate and guarantee the dominance of capital over the interests of the working class.
Police will consistently suppress and punish any and all emergent revolutionary action and reflexively side with the interests of the ruling class, regardless of what the letter of the law is or what their PR declares their function to be.
Therefore a "police union" is essentially an oxymoron and cannot ever be counted as part of the worker's struggle for justice.
