Sometimes I see people note that the Publick Universal Friend was disowned by #Quakers and wonder if it had to do with the genderlessness or other aspects of being PUF.

I can categorically say it did not.

I can say that because the disownment was two months BEFORE the illness that led to the Friend's rebirth as PUF.

Feb 1776: hey, you've been skipping meeting and going to Baptist church, tsk tsk

Aug: since you're a Baptist, you are officially not a Quaker anymore

Oct: "I'm PUF now"
