Romance, of course, is the classic 'underappreciated' genre and has been for generations.

Fantasy used to be very underappreciated but has come into it's own recently.

As far as styles, I'd love to see more omniscient third person PoV. And of course anything that isn't conflict-centered isn't a 'real' story in many eyes.
