Jenna with her old laptop, now updated to GNU/Linux! She'd stopped using it some time ago because #Windows had become so slow that it was unusable. A project of our local #Library where I #Volunteer. We spent some time installing then a brief introduction to the basics of using #GNU #Linux and a few of the apps.

She was excited to have a working computer again and, bonus, touch screen worked perfectly which made her extra happy.

#FreeSoftware #MutualAid #FOSS #Microsoft #Endof10 #Missouri

@dennyhenke I’m gonna install Kali Linux on my old 2019 MacBook. I was hoping for the result you’re describing. This inspires me to feel optimistic about it.

@markwyner I hope so too! I've never heard of Kali but I love that there are so many distributions to choose from. So many folks out there doing great work to create for one another.

"There's always something we can do."

!00% in agreement with you.

For example: I know someone whose disability severely restricts how often she is able to leave her apartment, yet she volunteers by spending time online helping vulnerable people connect to to services and contacts willing to help out those in need.

Example: Someone needs food or something like toilet paper, they contact her and she sends out an appeal to the "network" of contacts-nearly every time that need is met within the day--the person in need will find a package at their door.
Everyone has an ability to help others.
