2025 #Perseid meteor shower, taken with long exposure tracking by Josh Dury. Photo via @nasa, reposted for alt text. #astronomy#ArtText

Comets streak like silvery curved needles in ovular paths around a vertical cloud formation that cuts like a lumpy scar down the sky. The cloud is backlit by a mass of golden moonlight that blends soft lemon and rose into the horizon of the indigo sky above the luminous ink pool of the sea. In the foreground at bottom is the Durdle Door, a limestone arch in Dorset, England that looks like a scaly dragon lying at the end of a sandy strand, arching its short neck to dip its head into the water while its forelegs sink into the shallows.
