Do you want to make sure you notice posts by certain accounts?
If you're using Mastodon, go to the account's profile page and click on the 馃敂 bell icon. When this is activated, you will be additionally notified every time that account posts anything. Their posts will appear in your timeline as normal, the bell just adds an additional notification in your "Notifications" section too.
